In the great old days of the Lobethal road racing carnivals in the period 1938-48, their spectacular success was largely due to a committed effort by the business houses and individual residents of the communities of Lobethal and Charleston. In 1939, for example, Lobethal hosted the Australian Grand Prix attended by more than 60,000 spectators.
In 2009, as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Lobethal AGP, not much has changed. The input of all members of the local community is vital to the event's success and its ability to leave a lasting impression for the future.
Volunteer opportunities are plentiful - regardless of your time availabilities, skills or interests, it will great to have you aboard in whatever capacity you can contribute.
Let's get together and make the 2009 Lobethal Grand Carnival an event we can all be immensely proud of! And one which builds on the success of the inaugural 2008 event.
